Deep Sea Dive / Island Chizi
Ongoing project

Archeology is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. An archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts, ecofacts and cultural landscapes. A record of an object is a window to the understanding of cultural history to reconstructing past lifeways to documenting and explaining changes in human societies through time.

Deep Sea Dive is a series that re-imagines found objects recovered from expeditions in deep sea dives. I was personally intrigued by objects found in archaeological studies that reveal well-formed smooth man-made forms - vases, swords, boats, glass, so rich in its own history, found in the midst of its erosion and breakdown. Almost as if taking it out of the water or the earth, keeps it frozen in time.
